Chicago singer Sam Trump has been one of the freshest voices on the R&B scene as of late, and his latest single, “Cut a Rug,” fits right in with his quality body of work.

Produced by Calvin Valentine, the track has a timeless soul feel; it could’ve been written in 1974 or 2014. Trump’s vocals are confident and full, and the trumpet lick and synth squeal on the hook are excellent touches.

Trump and Valentine are currently working on an EP, Purple Skies, and we can safely say we cannot wait to hear the final product.
