We first highlighted Marcellus Juvann’s outstanding “Repent” last week, and lucky for all of us the Houston MC is back with a new track.

“Wake Up”, which features a piano and breakbeat driven instrumental by Chill O’Reilly and a strong guest verse from LB is a little more conscious than “Repent,” but just as listenable.

Juvann tackles weighty topics like race and politics delicately and in a manner reminiscent of some of Oddisee’s heavier material.

Despite his Houston origins Juvann doesn’t sound like many southern artists out there with his penchant for wordplay and ability to flow over a variety of beats.
