The sound of modern hip-hop has gradually been getting darker over the past few years, and Chicago MC BanksTheGenius perfectly capitalizes on that trend with his ace new single “Werewolf.”

The track, featuring standout verses from Banks himself and fellow Windy City rapper Femdot, and is capped off by a stellar, occult-tinged instrumental that Banks produced alongside Nigel Crown. The subtle vocal sample and choppy organs give the song a foreboding feel that both MCs’ deliveries compliment flawlessly.

“Werewolf” is a highly unique track that should click with hip-hop fans all over. It manages to bring in a creepy, ominous vibe without being cheesy, which is an incredibly difficult thing to do.
