There was no better surprise this week than getting an email at 1:30 a.m. from “Jamie and Mike” with a link to the brand new Run The Jewels album.

The duo, comprised of Killer Mike and El-P, released their debut record last year and were met with nearly unanimous praise for it.

Now, a little over one year and a cat-themed record called Meow The Jewels later, the pair are back with another volume of gut-busting, visceral hip-hop.

The whole album is a high-octane, aggressive listen, but Mike and El-P’s incredible chemistry and knack for humor makes it a phenomenal listen throughout.

Highlights include “Jeopardy,” “All Due Respect” and “Lie, Cheat, Steal.”
