Young Fathers released their Anticon debut LP, DEAD, earlier this year and it’s a fantastic consolidation of their previous strengths (clattering, junkyard percussion, alternately menacing and syrupy sweet vocals from all three members, and political charged lyrics) while pushing their sound in more accessible directions. When they opened for Baths at the Concord Music Hall earlier this year, I really had no idea what to expect from the three piece (four with their added live drummer), but they absolutely mesmerized and energized the crowd through their supreme confidence and showmanship. Young Fathers stopped by Kimmel last and played two stand-out tracks from their album and it’s abundantly clear how good they are live; Do NOT miss Young Fathers if they visit your city.
