Philadelphia quartet Magnificent Birds of Prey are a whirlwind of different rock sounds, and they all blend together splendidly on their new single “Sticks and Stones.”

A strong mix of fuzz, post-punk and some cleaner indie sensibility, “Sticks and Stones,” the second single from their forthcoming LP, Kaleidoscope, hits hard and doesn’t let go.

The track is capped off by Carl Kunz, Jr.’s powerful voice, which shines atop the dense instrumental and gives the track a powerful, confrontational quality.

The band reminds us of 2015 favorite Algiers, another gritty rock group with a timeless sound.
