It’s safe to say that nothing out there right now sounds like Mr. Twin Sister’s eponymous release. After undergoing a name change the Long Island outfit returned with a confident, woozy and eclectic record that is one of 2014’s most refreshing.

The album touches on everything from house and electronica to trip-hop to acid jazz, creating lush soundscapes for Andrea Estella’s gorgeous voice.

Tracks like “In the House of Yes” and “Out of the Dark” stand out for their mix of dark energy and playfulness, but the album’s real gem is “Blush.”

The sprawling record features an absolutely hypnotic string section and wonderfully dense instrumentation as Estella croons, “Is there even a real me? Or am I just a series of nights?”
