Akkilles is the Kansas City, MO based recording project of David Bennett. Splitting his time between solo recordings and a newly formed 5 piece band, the common thread tying the two halves of Akkilles together is lush, airy ambience and a deep rooted sense of melancholy. Missouri is a flat plain and these songs reflect that sparse landscape, flowing endlessly outwards covered in reverb and echo. Like a Midwestern Bradford Cox, Bennett explores space – warping folk and rock through his own personal lens. This is really worth a listen.
