Since I was a young lad, I’ve seen pop culture poke a little fun at the concept of girls kissing other girls. From Christine Taylor in Dodgeball to Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl,” the possibility of female empowerment through bisexuality has sort of been an idea we’ve danced around.

But with “Mr. Steal Your Girl” and most J. Cole songs, there’s a long history of guys singing about stealing other guys’ girls. Hayley Kiyoko decided it was time to make a female anthem about girls stealing girls.

The song, titled “Girls Like Girls,” will be featured in the upcoming film adaptation of Jem and the Holograms. “Girls Like Girls” is the type of song you can sing in the shower while your parents are out grocery shopping.
