BJ The Chicago Kid – Church feat. Chance the Rapper and Buddy
The Chicago rap scene has been pushing out a ton of stuff over the summer and at this point it seems like it may never stop. The newest track to come out is BJ The Chicago Kid’s “Church”, which is on his upcoming album In My Mind. BJ teams up with Buddy and Chance the Rapper for this song, the latter having worked with BJ before on Acid Rap and Surf.
“Church” is a sensual jam about BJ’s dilemma of hooking up with a girl and sinning when he has church the next morning. The beat is smooth and Buddy provides a catchy bridge over it, repeating the words “Hopefully we can go to heaven”. BJ’s flow and sexual lyrics are strong, but Chance’s allegorical verse about the bible have to be my favorite part of the song.
Overall it’s an enjoyable song and gives us a sample of what should be a pretty solid debut from BJ the Chicago Kid.
