Brennan Barnes, the terrifically gifted frontman of Deerpeople, who released one of our favorite albums of this year, has set out on an ambitious new journey and needs your help.

After releasing There’s Still Time For Us to Die, which made our “Best of 2015.5” list, and touring with his wonderfully named side project King Latifah, Barnes has decided to record an album by himself.

That may not sound like much, but Barnes wants to complete every stage of the process solo. As he puts it, “I want two weeks in a studio. I’ll send you all copies.”

Barnes has an incredibly engaging voice and writes some of the most vivid and rewindable lyrics this side of Destroyer, so it’ll be fascinating to see what kind of project he can cook up all by his lonesome.

The catch, is that Barnes needs fan support to help fund the album. He’s started a GoFundMe to help do that, and we at Pretty Good Music implore you to acquaint yourselves with his music and consider donating.
