Post Malone, he of “White Iverson” fame, continues his fascination with past athletes on new single “Holyfield.”

Despite hailing from Dallas, Malone is clearly a creation of the post-Drake world, with his syrupy warble and hazy, synth-heavy production.

The backdrop of “Holyfield” was crafted by FKi, Rex Kudo, Charlie Handsome and Lifted, and while having four producers on a track might seem like a few too many hands on the boards, the instrumental is dense and soulful without being too cluttered.

Malone’s vocals are overpowered a little bit at times, but overall “Holyfield” comes together well and sticks to the same winning formula that made “Iverson” a smash.
