Stereotypically “autumn” times are finally upon us. Everyone is drinking Pumpkin Spice coffee, everything is varying shades of red and orange, and college kids everywhere are planning their Halloween costumes. Of course, it seems like RTJ2, Run the Jewel’s next album, should be just as much a part of everyone’s seasonal festivities. The first two singles, “Oh My Darling Don’t Cry” and “Blockbuster Night Pt 1,” have been absolutely essential listening in the buildup to the album’s October 28 debut. Now, we’ve got “Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck),” the third absolute monster from these guys in a row. Bringing in Zach De La Rocha from Rage Against the Machine, it’s essential listening as your crunch the piling leaves on the sidewalk.
