Berlin-based artist Fraencis describes his inspirations as “mainly pop, downtempo, r&b and traditional african music,” and that eclectic mix is evident on “Hit Low,” his latest single.

“Hit Low” instantly catches you with as Fraencis’ deep baritone surges over a thick layer of synths and erratic 808 drums. The song only builds from there, as more complex drum lines and yearning backup vocals give it a moody, ethereal feel.

The track then unexpectedly switches gears with a vocal breakdown before a shimmering layer of guitar beautifully ties it together.

Fraencis reminds us of Fyfe, a PGM favorite who also pushes the boundaries of indie R&B with his unique drum sequences and emotional delivery.
